Daniel Larsson, Group CEO of Odevo
When Odevo was founded in 2019, the ambition was bold: to become the leading force in residential property management. Today, with 12,000 colleagues managing 2.5 million homes across nine markets, the company has clearly come far. But talking to Daniel Larsson, Odevo’s Group CEO, you quickly realise that for him, Odevo is far from finished.
“We are not only improving something organically. We are changing an entire industry. That’s a huge responsibility, but it’s a challenge that energizes and motivates everyone at Odevo”, Daniel says.
A problem worth solving
Ask anyone who works in residential property management and the frustrations sound much the same: the industry lacks innovation and digitalisation. Odevo recognised early on that while the problems were universal, no one was solving them at scale.
“Odevo was formed behind the vision to simplify living for people all over the world and keeps growing by uniting local champions supported by global capabilities,” he says. “Even though this industry differs between markets, the fundamental need for great people, value-added services, and smart technology is the same everywhere. That’s our opportunity.”
It is a way of working built on humility and empathy, and an unshakeable belief that residential property management deserves better. The companies that join Odevo bring their own identity, but they share a vision for what the industry can become.
“As we’ve grown, so has our understanding of what our clients truly need. Property management is just the starting point. Every day, our clients navigate a fragmented landscape of services like energy, insurance, financial services, maintenance, construction, and more. We believe Odevo is uniquely positioned to change that. By bringing the right partners and capabilities together under one roof, we can negotiate better terms, guarantee higher quality, and do what we’ve always set out to do: Simplify Living for people across the world.”
Speed through a shared mindset
“The companies joining Odevo know their local market best,” Daniel says. “Rather than telling them what to do, we define our shared ambitions and work united to find common issues and address new opportunities.”
The trust in local decision-making extends to every colleague across the group and is underpinned by what Daniel calls Odevo’s first, second, and third priorities: culture. “Our shared mindset, The Odevo Way, makes it possible. We are more than 14 000 colleagues across nine markets building Odevo. Together, we aspire to break new ground through innovation and cultivate a workplace where we help each other succeed, where ideas matter more than titles, and where kindness is a strength.
“The fewer decisions the management team has to make, the better,” he says. “It means decisions land where they belong — close to clients, with the people who know the situation best. And when people own their decisions, they grow.”
This combination of local expertise, individual decision-making, and collective strength has helped Odevo grow more than 70-fold in just a few years.
Technology that empowers people and improves customer experience
Technology has been central to Odevo’s vision from day one – not as a buzzword, but as a practical tool for creating a better experience for clients and colleagues.
“In 2019, our tech team could fit around a single table,” Daniel says. “Now we are more than 150 people, and dedicated AI teams, building software and developing tools that genuinely make life easier for property managers, boards, and associations. We are committed, investing more in technology and AI than anyone in this industry.”
The philosophy is pragmatic. A roof cannot be renovated digitally, but the right technology can help you understand when it needs to happen and how to get it done. The aim is always the same: solve real problems and take the hassle out of people’s work.
“We always start by asking where we can make things easier for our clients,” Daniel says. “Most parts of property management can be made smoother, more transparent, and more user-friendly. That’s what drives us.”
The road ahead
“At the start of this journey, the challenge was getting everyone to work together,” he says. “Now it’s about something harder in a way, staying true to who we are as we grow into something much bigger.”
For Daniel, that means never losing sight of what built Odevo in the first place: the people.
“Everything we’ve achieved has been built by people who believed in this before it was obvious,” he says. “The colleagues who took a chance on us early, the companies who chose to join, the clients who trusted us, this is their journey too.”
And the journey, he is quick to point out, is far from over.
“We’ve proven that this industry can be done differently. Now we get to show what it looks like at real scale, more markets, more homes, more lives made simpler. For everyone who’s been part of building this, the most exciting chapter is still ahead.”
