Jorge García, CEO of Portik Group
“For me, joining Odevo was a natural step,” says Jorge García, CEO of Portik Group. “It’s about being part of something bigger, where culture, people, technology, and growth come together to transform an industry that’s long overdue for change.”
Portik’s story began in Spain in 2017. In just a few years, the company grew rapidly, expanding into Portugal, Mexico and Italy. That journey led Jorge to Odevo, through what he describes as almost “love at first sight.”
“We first connected on LinkedIn,” Jorge recalls with a smile. “Daniel, Odevo’s CEO, reached out, we set up a call, and within days he was on a plane to Madrid. We talked, and it immediately became clear that we were building towards the same vision, just in different geographies. From the start, I appreciated the fast-moving pace and the cultural fit. I sometimes joke and say that it felt like meeting a twin brother separated at birth.”
A culture of growth
Culture has always been central to Portik’s DNA. “We talk a lot about culture in our company, both internally and with investors,” Jorge explains. “We care about people; employees, customers, and partners. And we try to keep things simple, transparent, and close to the people we work with. Yes, we’re a company, not a family, but we’ve built strong bonds. We celebrate together, we grow together, and that creates an entrepreneurial, growth-driven environment.”
That growth orientation is what drives Portik forward. Working in markets with many smaller property management companies, Portik has integrated around 200 companies since it was founded.
Technology built for people
For Jorge, technology is not an end in itself but a tool to empower people. “We recently launched our own technology company to build systems designed around how our employees actually work,” he says. “Instead of forcing people to adapt to software, we’re asking: how can software adapt to you? What are your pain points? How can we make your job easier?”
This thinking aligns closely with Odevo’s tech-driven approach. “Odevo has a long track record and a big team of specialists. For us, with a smaller tech team, it’s a fantastic opportunity to learn and collaborate. Together we can accelerate innovation, from customer portals to AI-driven tools.”
From idea to industry leader
Jorge didn’t come from property management. His background was in consulting and private equity. But a project for a Spanish bank during the financial crisis sparked an idea: what if someone consolidated this fragmented industry, digitised it, and offered more value-added services?
“I kept that idea in my head,” he says. “Eventually, I pitched it to potential investors, and all but one were onboard. From buying our first company with 20 employees in 2017 to now being 3,000 people across four countries, it has been an incredible journey.”
That journey continues as part of Odevo. “We’re excited to contribute,” Jorge says. “We want to get up to speed quickly, maintain our Portik spirit, and make Odevo proud of us joining. There’s even a healthy competition between geographies now, which motivates us even more, he says laughing.”
Looking ahead
So what’s next? “We’ll keep doing what we do best, growing, integrating, and innovating,” Jorge says. “But now, we’ll do it together with Odevo. The opportunities ahead are enormous, and we’re committed to being a growth driver within the group.”
And when Spanish media calls him “the king of property management”? Jorge laughs. “I don’t really like that title. It’s not about me. If anything, it’s the company. I prefer to think of myself as part of a bigger team that’s working hard to change an industry.”
